I'm commemorating the beauty and strength in corsets. I was inspired when watching Enola Holmes, where she got shot, but luckily the strong material of her corset stopped the bullet from penetrating her skin. This is why the corset is made out of metal, because metal and chainmail is seen as armour. Corsets are like armour in a way due to its thick material. Then I added pieces of artworks to show the beauty in armour. The front of it resembles a coat of arms, which was used to identify families, for this instance it identifies the strength and beauty of a woman. Since the casted piece is based off girl with a pearl earring from Vermeer, I remembered seeing this photograph from jenny boot featuring a black model with a pearl earring so I based it off of black models and Egyptian statues. Then the side pieces I used platina to give it that rusted, old and used feeling. And the back I did an image transfer onto metal and it includes 2 of my favorite paintings. Garden of Earthly Delights  by Bosch which is a triptych of garden of eden(paradise), earthly delights(earth) and hell, which shows sin and whole of human experience from life to afterlife. And the beheading of holofernes by gentileschi, which involves Judith charming the Syrian general Holofernes who was sent to take her city, so she seduces and gets him drunk to decapitates him in order to save her people.
Feast of herod by donatello represents the scenes of st john, Herod was a king who married his sister in law and st john was against it. Herod's daughter said she would dance at his birthday if she had the head of st john the Baptist.
