I am Giovanna Eley, anĀ emerging artist based in New Jersey. My passion lies in elevating black voices and experiences within the art world, addressing the historical underrepresentation of my community. Influenced by artists like Caravaggio, Gentileschi, and Rembrandt, whose works predominantly feature white figures, I strive to transform traditional art into a vibrant canvas celebrating black figures and narratives. More contemporary artists like Harmonia Rosales, Jacob Landau, Chimei Hamada, and Katy Grannan also serve as a significant influence in shaping my creative process in relation to the meaning of my work.
